Marcela Slade is an artist, designer, curator, teacher, an advocate for love, culture and equality. Slade comes from a multi-cultural background. She grew up between Bogota, Colombia and Chapel Hill, NC USA.

Her drawing, painting and illustration style can be categorized as expressionist and/or instrumentalist using distortion as a statement about human nature.

sladesign is a line of fashion and accessories designed and fabricated by Slade. There have been 15 sladesign Fashion Shows, each designed and produced by Slade. The collections are made up of handmade, one-of-a-kind pieces created with recycled materials combined with silk, cotton and wool.

Currently, Slade teaches art & design at her studio in downtown Carrboro, NC and is curator for the Town of Carrboro. She lives in Carrboro with her husband and two beautiful brilliant sons.
