A New Year 2026
Jan 18, 2026
I am about to make this website live after several months of working on it. I received a grant from the Durham Arts Council to redesign my website and here it is. It is definitely a work in progress, as I can add soooo much more.
My new year resolution is to dedicate myself to producing a massive amount of work. The image that is accompanying this post is of Assata Shakur. A couple nights ago, as I added final touches to the piece, my brother said it reminded him of the activist. I had to look her up to remember who she was. She was deep down in my mind. The photograph that came up is an icon for the Black liberation movement, social justice and self-determination, opposing racial injustice, police brutality and state oppression. She is a symbol of resistance. Her image, perfect for this moment in time.
Our current President (USA) has highjacked our country and is doing whatever he pleases, forgetting “we the people”. Congress and the Supreme Court are all accomplices from the moment he was allowed on the ballot, Act 1 of disregarding our constitution: Amendment 14 Section 3.
Genocide is happening in several countries, China (Uyghurs), Myanmar (Rohingya), Sudan (Darfur/Rapid Support Forces), Ethiopia (Tigray/Oromo), and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict (Gaza). Many supported by the USofA. Here in the USofA, the immigration policy has become domestic terrorism, all reminding us of the Third Reich.
Tomorrow we celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day. How different things would have been if he, Dr. LOVE, was still with us. Long Live Dr. King. I’m off to paint! !!
